After a delay, the Kaiji mobile game will be releasing in Japan very soon. 20 January 2022, 18:00 JST soon, in fact. Based on the Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji manga, the mobile game was originally planned to release end of 2021, but was postponed in order to make improvements, etc., whatever they may be.
Its pretty basic website can be found here, while its official Twitter is here. It looks like the game is as of yet still ‘incomplete’ so to speak, but they hope to sequentially release the future content while “building it together with their players”.
The game itself will have you play a variety of mini games over the days and nights in a world similar to a ‘life game simulator’, a challenge issued by the Teiai Group. These mini games will play similarly to ones you’ve seen before. Winning will get you experience, allowing you to place bigger bets as you rank up. Items may be used to get you an advantage in online matches.
Your goal will be to be at the top of the hierarchy, with in-game leaderboards you can check. Games and characters from the source material will appear, the characters having their own abilities you can use to support you in your conquest. Supposedly, the app has “hidden functions”, so have fun figuring those out. Items, characters and other features will be added as needed.
