Roughly six months after its release, Saros is getting a free new update entitled “Zenith,” bringing New Game+, boss rush, and additional gameplay modifiers to Housemarque’s sci-fi PlayStation exclusive. The update dropped today, which, according to the developers, aims to add replayability and make the game more approachable for newcomers.

The headline addition is Overlord Rush, a mode that challenges players to defeat powerful bosses from the main campaign as quickly as possible. Its Incursion and Ascension sets each feature three Overlords, while the Totality set pits players against all eight in one continuous gauntlet. Online leaderboards will also let players compare scores with friends and competitors worldwide.

Meanwhile, Eclipse Layers introduces New Game+ for players who have completed the campaign. This mode sends protagonist Arjun back into Carcosa with tougher conditions and additional challenges through Carcosan Modifiers. Zenith adds 10 Protection Modifiers to make encounters more forgiving. However, those who prefer a bit more challenge can enjoy the 10 Trial Modifiers to increase the difficulty.

The Saros Zenith update also introduces a flashy reward for those willing to embrace the grind. For instance, Arjun gains a crown and glowing golden armour in Eclipse Layers, with the crown becoming more elaborate as players take on additional Trial Modifiers. Higher crown levels also reveal 12 hidden Visions containing murals and messages linked to an ancient king.

Players struggling with the intense combat of Saros can also use new accessibility options, including adjustable game speed, automatic firing, and motion-sensor aiming. These additions let players customise combat without removing the need for precise timing during reloads.
