The original Cowboy Bebop anime is coming to Netflix next week, giving you a chance to watch the original before its live-action counterpart drops later this year.

According to Netflix, the Cowboy Bebop anime will be releasing worldwide on October 21st, and will be available from 3pm GMT+8.

It will include all 26 episodes of the anime’s run, and feature Japanese audio and English subtitles.

“For me, it’s a great surprise and honor that the Cowboy Bebop universe has thrived for over 20 years and will continue onward,” commented Shinichirō Watanabe, the original anime series director.

Koichi Yamadera, who plays Spike Spiegel in the anime, also spoke up about the upcoming live action adaptation. He particularly touched on his contemporary, John Cho, who plays Spiegel in the new adaptation.

“Cowboy Bebop is an important work for me. I have long anticipated a live-action version. I can feel the strong respect it has toward the anime. I hope that viewers will see the atmosphere of the Spike character that I previously portrayed in John Cho’s performance, who is skillfully taking on the role in this version. There are also many settings and developments that can only be pulled off in a live-action series. I hope that both people who love Cowboy Bebop and those who are new to the title can enjoy this new series!”, Yamadera says.

Cowboy Bebop is one of the truly iconic anime of its era, blending its space-cowboy world with a unique multicultural view as well as unrivaled love for Jazz music.
