Planet 9 is meant to be a next-generation esports platform, as revealed by Acer at their next@acer event. Planet 9 is meant to be an open community. Gamers will be able to form their teams, train up and go for victory. The platform is currently in closed beta, with open beta planned for 30 January 2020.

Andrew Chang, General Manager, Esports Services, IT Products Business, Acer Inc., had this to say on Planet 9:

Planet9 is a next-generation esports platform that encompasses what competitive and casual gamers need to level up and participate in esports below the professional tier. Building on Acer’s strength in hardware, software, and services, Planet9 will provide insights to complete the experience for gamers around the world.

Planet 9 is open for both interested amateur and casual players. Join up with the pros, learn their strengths and weaknesses. Hook up with fellow gamers in the community and compete in online tournaments.

Community is core in Planet 9. Find similar players, add them, follow the people they follow and get recommendations based on games played. Teams will have chatrooms to share their tactics and bond with each other.

You’ll be able to get a coach for individual guidance, or play alongside veteran gamers. Maybe you just want to get some more hours with your friends. You can also get statistics on their play. For those with a more competitive edge, get on with the Scrims feature to challenge other clans in Clan Scrims, or get into a Tribe Wars weekly for additional benefits on Planet 9.
