Netflix has set up a new in-house animation studio that runs on generative AI, and it was job listings that first tipped people off. The studio, called INKubator (also referred to as INK), was established in March and is described as a “genAI-native” operation, meaning generative AI is built into its core process from the ground up.
The news was first picked up by The Verge and ChosunBiz after Netflix posted a wave of job listings tied to the new studio. Netflix has not made any formal public announcement about INKubator. According to the job listings, the studio will start by producing short-form animated content. The plan is to eventually move toward longer projects, with feature-quality content listed as a future goal.
In a statement to Cartoon Brew, Netflix described INKubator as an “artist-focused environment to experiment in,” where creators can explore how new tools and workflows can work alongside traditional animation practices to support storytelling.

INKubator is being led by Serrena Iyer, who previously served as a strategy and operations lead at DreamWorks Animation. The studio is currently hiring across a wide range of positions, including producers, technical directors, software engineers, and CG artists.
Netflix was clear that its existing animation arm, Netflix Animation Studios, which is behind projects like KPop Demon Hunters and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, will continue using traditional animation techniques. INKubator appears to serve as a separate space for Netflix, used for experimenting with AI-driven production, which is kept distinct from the studio’s main animation work.
