South Korean developer NEOWIZ announced that BrownDust2, their gacha RPG, has been removed from the Google Play Store in Vietnam due to local regulations. The game is currently unavailable for new downloads in the country. Players who already have BrownDust2 installed can still play, but may experience issues with updates and in-app purchases through the store.
According to NEOWIZ, the removal stems from Vietnam’s internet and online game service regulations. Vietnamese law requires foreign game companies to take specific steps to operate in the country, including establishing partnerships with local companies or setting up a legal entity in Vietnam. The developer must also obtain local approvals and licensing to continue providing services.
NEOWIZ is working to address the situation, but has not provided a timeline for when the game might return to the Vietnamese Google Play Store.

Earlier this month, the BrownDust2 team announced plans to revise in-game content after receiving “external warnings” about certain material. The changes would have affected character designs and other content. However, the developers canceled these revisions two days later following strong negative feedback from players. In their cancellation notice, NEOWIZ stated their preference to offer region-specific services without changing content. When this isn’t possible due to local regulations, they said they would apply country-specific restrictions, suspend service, or provide modified versions as needed.

The developer mentioned ongoing discussions with a regulatory body from a “specific country” but did not identify which country at the time. It remains unclear whether the Vietnam situation is connected to the earlier content revision issue.
