According to the news published by our Indonesian sister-site GamerWK, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey is now continuing its quest to the city of Medan.

With successful past events held in Bali, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta, the event will take place on April 25 until April 27, at DeliPark Mall Medan from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This activity aims to bring an interactive and fun experience for the expanding Pokémon GO community throughout Indonesia.

Indonesia is a key market for Pokémon GO, with over 40 active communities across the country. Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey is Niantic Inc.’s way of celebrating this vibrant community, and Medan was chosen as a major stop this year due to its potential as a Pokémon GO hub in Sumatra. The city boasts over 1,141 active Trainers eager to join the festivities.

Refael Siregar, Niantic, Inc.’s APAC Lead of Emerging Markets has shared that last year’s Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey showed tremendous enthusiasm among the community. Inspiring the company to reach even more Trainers across new regions in the following years to come.

This time, Pikachu in a Batik shirt will welcome Trainers in Medan with a range of fun activities in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, including a Kids Carnival, Pokémon merchandise booth, Meet & Greet with Pikachu, and in-game features like Timed Research and Collection Challenge.

Visitors can also enjoy the Pokémon TCG Tutorial Class, a Pikachu Parade & Dance Show, and recharge stations at the Pokémon GO Powerbank. The event aims to offer Trainers in Medan a lively celebration of community and Pokémon hunting.

After Medan, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey will continue to Bekasi, Bandung, Semarang, and Palembang. Trainers will have the rare chance to catch Pikachu in a special Indonesian batik shirt during the event period.

This initiative supports Niantic’s 2025 mission to connect with more local communities and provide an inclusive, fun gaming experience. Refael also adds that these events are a way of showing immense appreciation and gratitude for the community’s spirit as this while.

Last year, the series drew over 30,000 visitors in three cities. In Bali alone, it surpassed ticket targets by 130% and boosted local income by USD 13.6 million (IDR 212 billion).
