The World of Warcraft: Forever beta is officially moving into its next phase, and developers have painted quite the picture of what fans can expect following the first week of testing. During the inaugural episode of the World of Warcraft: Forever Podcast, it was revealed that the update will raise the level cap to 30 while also introducing new talents, class abilities, and a battleground.
Developers Josh Greenfield and Tim Jones joined community members Countdown to Classic and Xaryu to talk about user feedback during the beta’s opening week as well.
The first phase of the reveals included the introduction of the Skyborne race that originates from the floating Zephras Isle, which is also a new starter zone. They were unveiled alongside two new dungeons: Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron.
Hall of Thanes is an alliance-focused dungeon beneath Ironforge, set in the dwarves’ sacred burial chambers. The area is designed for characters around levels 13–18. Here, they have to defeat Dark Iron Dwarves, the undead, and other threats that roam the resting place.

Meanwhile, Ruins of Lordaeron is designed for Horde players at levels 15 to 20. It takes place in the fallen kingdom of Lordaeron, where the Forsaken are trying to reclaim their former capital.
The new beta update will also let players try new social features, including camping and the pro-social realm-less server infrastructure. Furthermore, once it commences, the level cap increases to 30, giving players access to additional talents and class abilities.

One of the biggest highlights of the update, however, is the Darkspear Islands battleground, which expands the beta’s PvP offerings. This new 15-vs-15 PvP battleground uses capture-and-hold objectives, where each player can earn reputation with two new factions. The battleground’s new factions are: the Alliance’s Theramore Expeditionary Force and the Horde’s Darkspear Raiders.

During the podcast, the development team also discussed how Skyborne Elves fit into the reimagined Azeroth of WoW: Forever. This was talked about alongside the game’s server technology, world PvP systems, and redesigned UI.
Levelling and progression were another major focus, with the team discussing changes to experience gains and class balance. Developers also highlighted adjustments being made in response to feedback from players during the first week of testing.
