Spiral AI, the developer of the Atelier Ryza chatbot-style RPG RyzaChat: AI, has announced that it will place restrictions on user input in the game’s upcoming October AI model update. The company says the move comes after concerns were raised about players misusing the game in ways that could harm the reputation of the Atelier series and its characters.
Along with restating the game’s terms of service, Spiral AI said it will not tolerate actions that “disparage or damage the integrity of the source material.” This includes trying to get Ryza’s character AI to say things that go against public order and morals. It also covers making altered or fake screenshots that misrepresent what is actually in the game.

The game already uses a three-tier system to monitor chats. Player messages first go to a Game Master AI, which breaks down the content and removes inappropriate words before passing it to the character AI. Ryza’s character AI is also set up to avoid topics that have nothing to do with her character or the game’s world. Lastly, if a response from Ryza contains inappropriate expressions, it is removed right away. As an added step, inappropriate content is blocked from being saved in the character AI’s memory.
Even with these measures in place, they were not enough to stop misuse. Some users found ways to get around the screening through prompt injections and similar methods. To address this, Spiral AI will limit what players can input when chatting with Ryza in the October update. The developers are also looking at other measures, such as caps on character counts, and say they will keep monitoring the situation.

Spiral AI also addressed fake or edited screenshots of RyzaChat: AI. The company says it has started filing takedown requests and sending complaints to the online platforms involved, among other actions. Because of the importance placed on protecting character integrity, these input restrictions are likely to be used in the recently announced SophieChat: AI as well. That game stars Sophie Neuenmuller, the protagonist of Atelier Sophie. RyzaChat: AI is available now for iOS and Android.
