Katy Perry has brought back a wave of Sims nostalgia after performing the Simlish version of her hit Last Friday Night live during a recent concert. The moment marks 13 years since the pop star first recorded the playful version for The Sims 3: Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats expansion in 2012.
Fans of The Sims will instantly recognize Simlish, the franchise’s signature made-up language spoken by its virtual characters. Over the years, several artists, including My Chemical Romance, Depeche Mode, Yoasobi, and Perry herself, have re-recorded popular songs entirely in Simlish for the games.

During one of her tour stops, Perry was handed a piece of paper by fans containing the Simlish lyrics to Last Friday Night. At first, she laughed and said, “Oh no, I shouldn’t do this,” before agreeing to sing the chorus. Some audience members unfamiliar with The Sims were likely confused by the sudden burst of “gibberish” lyrics, but for longtime players, it was a pure nostalgia hit. The original Simlish rendition was part of the 2012 Sweet Treats Stuff Pack, which featured Katy Perry-themed outfits, hairstyles, items, and locations, alongside her re-recorded songs.
