Team Cherry has shared a major development update for Hollow Knight: Silksong, revealing new content plans and platform upgrades. As Silksong’s launch year comes to a close, the studio confirmed a free expansion, a refreshed Hollow Knight release, and new merchandise. At the same time, the team expressed gratitude to fans worldwide for their continued support.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Surpasses Seven Million Players
Since launch, Hollow Knight: Silksong has surpassed seven million paid players worldwide. In addition, millions more have experienced the game through Xbox Game Pass. According to Team Cherry, the response exceeded expectations and even overwhelmed storefront servers.

Meanwhile, the growing community continues to create fan art, mods, and inventive strategies. As a result, player enthusiasm has become a key motivation behind the game’s continued expansion.
Nautical-Themed Silksong Expansion Coming in 2026
Notably, the first major Silksong expansion is already in active development and will launch free for all players. Titled Hollow Knight: Silksong – Sea of Sorrow, the update introduces a nautical-themed adventure.

Furthermore, players can expect new areas, bosses, tools, and additional challenges for Hornet. Although the studio is keeping details under wraps for now, more information will be shared closer to release.
Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Confirmed
Alongside Silksong’s ongoing development, Team Cherry has not forgotten the original Hollow Knight. As such, the studio announced a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition currently in production. This upgraded version includes technical improvements previously introduced in Silksong.

Specifically, these upgrades feature higher resolutions, high frame-rate modes, and enhanced visual effects. Most importantly, existing Nintendo Switch owners will receive the Switch 2 Edition as a free upgrade when it launches in 2026.
Original Hollow Knight Updates Now Live on PC Beta
In preparation for the Switch 2 release, Team Cherry is also updating all existing versions of Hollow Knight. These updates focus on feature enhancements and bug fixes across platforms.

Meanwhile, PC players can already access many of these improvements through public beta branches on Steam and GOG. Notably, the update adds full 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratio support, which benefits Steam Deck and ultrawide monitor users alike.
New Silksong Mini Figurines Available for Pre-Order

To further celebrate Silksong’s success, Team Cherry has partnered with Studio Tyto and Fangamer on a new mini figurine series. The collection features Hornet alongside her allies and rivals. Additionally, fans can pre-order the figurines individually or as a complete set. Alongside these figures, Fangamer also offers a wider selection of Silksong-themed merchandise.
More Hollow Knight Sales and Plans Ahead
Beyond new content and merchandise, the Hollow Knight games will also appear in various holiday sales across multiple platforms. As a result, new players will have more opportunities to experience the series at discounted prices.
