Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first movie teaser for the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Minecraft, offering fans an initial glimpse into the blockbuster project. Jared Hess will direct the movie, set to hit theaters on April 4, 2025, marking the first live-action interpretation of the world’s best-selling video game, which has sold over 300 million copies to date.

The teaser introduces a star-studded cast, featuring Jack Black as Steve, the iconic playable character from the original game, and Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison. Joining them are Emma Myers, known for her role in “Wednesday,” Jennifer Coolidge of “The White Lotus” fame, Danielle Brooks from “The Color Purple,” and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

According to the official synopsis, the film follows four misfits whom an unexpected force transports into the Overworld, Minecraft’s distinctive cubic landscape. The group must learn to navigate and protect this new realm from various threats, including Piglins and Zombies, while embarking on a magical quest alongside Steve, an expert crafter.

Additional confirmed cast members include Sebastian Eugene, with a production team featuring producers Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jason Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick. Executive producers Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts are also attached to the project.

While many details about the film remain under wraps, including the final writing credits, the Minecraft movie is could position itself as a potentially good adaptation of one of the most popular video game franchises in history. Although, the premiere date may be subject to change as development progresses.
