Wuthering Waves Launch Marred with Issues as Devs Offer Compensation and Work on Fixes

Wuthering Waves would have been one of the most exciting gacha releases yet, but its launch last week was beset by issues.

Dubbed as a potential direct competitor to gacha game juggernaut Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves launched last week but was quickly met with backlash as players found themselves facing a myriad of issues trying to play the game – including not being able to log into the game, crashes, and stuttering performances.

As of writing, various issues have already been fixed through a series of hotfixes, and the developers have released statements addressing the issues, with compensation as an apology. The compensation includes 10 Radiant Tides and a free 5-Star character selector voucher, which is super generous for gacha game standards.

Since its launch, Wuthering Waves has faced various issues, in particularly regarding disappointing performances on mobile devices and even some higher-end PCs. Players reported that their game would freeze, stutter, run on very low frame rates, or even straight-up crashes.

A common complaint is also that the game runs with extremely blurry visuals on mobile phones and some Android devices could not even launch the game.

Optimization misfire aside, the game is also facing criticisms for poor quality localization and text getting cut off in dialogue boxes. Another criticism coming from fans of Genshin Impact is that Wuthering Waves treads a little too close to its supposed competitor, with too many elements shared between both games aside from combat.

The rocky launch of Wuthering Waves also spawned many debates and totally calm conversations between fans of the game and fans of Genshin Impact.

“Please rest assured that we are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our players, and we take performance concerns seriously,” developer Kuro Games said in one of its statements. “In future updates, we will continue to optimize the game’s performance to improve your gaming experience. Please stay tuned to our upcoming notices and announcements. “

Here’s hoping that Kuro Games can iron out the issues for Wuthering Waves as many who are able to play the game noted that it is a genuinely fun game.
