We all know the well known Wan Hazmer, our very own 100% Malaysian developer who was part of the world’s giant game developer, Square Enix. He has led his team develop the popular Final Fantasy XV and was the lead designer for Monster Of The Deep Final Fantasy XV. A blast from the past, an interview we had with him has allowed us to be honored with his outgoing and inspiration filled chat; we are not surprised that he’d hit us with his revelation.
Just recently, he has officially announced his leave from giant game developer Square Enix. He has revealed his plans to start up his own studio in Malaysia during a panel held at the annual Level Up KL conference for the SEA developers. Hazmer plans start up his studio in conjunction with the MDEC and Level Up Inc sometime during this December.
Hazmer’s decision is an interesting move that would benefit our local game developing scene. With his seven years experience working with Square Enix on AAA games, it would be a great asset for his new studio. This will definitely help our local developers in Malaysia rise up in the game developing ranks and create plenty of opportunities for those who see a future in the industry. For all that is said, all the best to Wan Hazmer and lets support his dreams and our talented local game developers!
