It may feel like Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog’s new sci-fi action-adventure title, was only just unveiled, but studio head Neil Druckmann has confirmed that a second game is also in development.
Speaking on the Press X to Continue podcast, Druckmann revealed that while he is the writer and creative director for Intergalactic, he’s also involved in another Naughty Dog project, this time in a producer role.
He explained that he is mentoring the team, providing feedback, and essentially serving as the executive in the room. He added that he enjoys switching between these roles, as it keeps his work exciting and consistently fresh, never leaving him feeling bored.

This isn’t the first indication that Naughty Dog has multiple games in development. Back in 2023, the studio disclosed that it was working on ‘more than one ambitious, brand-new single-player game’ when it announced the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. Neil Druckmann used similar wording in an interview later that summer. However, his most recent comments serve as the first official confirmation since then that several projects remain in active development.

The nature of the second project remains unclear, as Druckmann did not provide any details. However, there is speculation that it could be led by Uncharted: The Lost Legacy director Shaun Escayg, who rejoined Naughty Dog in 2021 after working as the creative director on Marvel’s Avengers at Crystal Dynamics.
At present, Druckmann’s primary focus seems to be Intergalactic, slated for release in 2027. Although information about the project is still limited, he recently revealed that an actor from The Last of Us television adaptation has been cast in Intergalactic.
