Helldivers 2 Xbox Release Confirmed for August 2025

Arrowhead Game Studios has officially announced the Helldivers 2 Xbox release, bringing the explosive co-op shooter to Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025. Originally exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PC, the title’s expansion to Xbox was revealed via the official Xbox website, marking a rare crossover for a Sony-published game.

First launched in February 2024, Helldivers 2 puts players in the boots of Super Earth soldiers tasked with liberating planets and spreading “Managed Democracy” across the galaxy. The third-person shooter supports up to four-player co-op and features a real-time metagame called the Galactic War, where player decisions influence the state of the universe.

“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time, and we’re so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game,” said Game Director Mikael Eriksson. “The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

Since launch, Helldivers 2 has broken records for PlayStation-published titles on PC, reaching over 15 million units sold and a peak of 458,709 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB. The upcoming Xbox launch is expected to boost those numbers even further.

The Helldivers 2 Xbox release follows a rocky moment in the game’s history, when a forced PSN login requirement sparked community backlash. Sony quickly reversed the decision, and the game’s popularity remained strong.
