PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games have announced MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, a new tag team fighting game set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The game was revealed during Sony’s State of Play presentation and promises to bring a fresh take on team-based fighting games. Unlike traditional 2v2 or 3v3 fighters, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls features a unique 4v4 system that lets multiple characters appear on screen at once for backup attacks and team combos.
Game Director Kazuto Sekine explains that the team wanted to make the game accessible to newcomers while keeping it deep enough for competitive players. “You only need to master one character in order to play the game,” Sekine said. Players can use either traditional fighting game controls or simplified inputs to pull off moves, making it easier for beginners to jump in.
The roster includes fan-favorite characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes). Each character has been redesigned with Arc System Works’ signature anime-inspired art style, known for their work on games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.

Producer Takeshi Yamanaka shared that choosing characters was tough, but they focused on Marvel’s most recognizable faces while balancing different fighting styles. They also included some surprises and characters who have never appeared in fighting games before.
Marvel Games‘ Michael Francisco praised the collaboration, saying Arc System Works has “poured incredible amounts of talent and passion into reimagining the Marvel Universe” with their unique style. MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is scheduled to release sometime in 2026 across PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Epic Games Store.
