Netflix announced that its upcoming animated adaptation of the popular video game franchise “Devil May Cry” will premiere in April 2025. The streaming giant recently unveiled a teaser trailer for the series, which Korean animation studio Studio Mir and creator Adi Shankar are producing in collaboration with Netflix.
The Devil May Cry animated series was first announced in September of last year, marking a new chapter for the beloved action-adventure franchise. Originally created by Hideki Kamiya and developed by Capcom, the game series has gained a significant following since its inception, boasting six main entries along with various remasters and collections.
The video game series follows Dante, a half-human, half-demon hunter who runs the Devil May Cry agency. The game put players in control of Dante and is known for its fast-paced and stylish combat. The series challenges players to chain together long strings of attacks and evasive maneuvers while avoiding damage. This unique gameplay style rewards skillful play with higher style rankings, encouraging players to master Dante’s diverse arsenal of weapons and abilities.
Moreover, this new anime series from Netflix is the second animated iteration of Devil May Cry. MADHOUSE produced the first 12-episode series, which aired in June 2007 and focused on Dante’s day-to-day life as a demon hunter.
