Capcom Countdown website hints at possible major announcement

Earlier today, Capcom has launched a countdown website for an unknown announcement, leaving the internet rife with speculation. The countdown will end next week on February 21 at 6.00 am GMT. The Capcom USA Twitter account also tweeted the following:

Without any hints or clues whatsoever, only Capcom themselves are certain of what the countdown is for. Naturally, netizens have varying thoughts on the nature of the announcement.

Many believe that because the final competitive season of Street Fighter V, Capcom Pro Tour 2021 will end next weekend, the announcement will be for a new fighting game, possibly Street Fighter 6. Some hopeful fighting game fans even have their fingers crossed for a remaster Marvel vs. Capcom 2. In September last year, fans managed to get Disney to notice their efforts in trying to revive the legendary fighting game.

Fighting games aside, others on the internet also believe that the announcement could be Resident Evil-related, possibly for a DLC or expansion for Resident Evil Village.

While many fans are speculating regarding the announcement, there is one announcement that many hope would not be true—an NFT-related announcement.
