Capcom has canceled a planned lecture about Monster Hunter Wilds’ performance optimization at Japan’s biggest game development conference, CEDEC 2025. The decision comes as the company’s staff faces ongoing harassment and threats related to the game’s technical problems.
The canceled session, titled “Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization,” was scheduled to take place at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference from July 22-24. The talk was meant to share technical details about improving game performance, with engineers discussing CPU, GPU, and memory issues using real examples from Monster Hunter Wilds’ development.
While Capcom hasn’t officially stated why they pulled the presentation, the timing points to recent player backlash over the game’s performance. On June 30, Monster Hunter Wilds received its Title Update 2, which added new monsters Lagiacrus and Seregios along with various fixes. However, players quickly reported serious problems including bugs, frame rate drops, and crashes.
A patch released on July 1 was supposed to help, but some players said it actually made things worse, causing their CPU usage to spike. Despite Capcom acknowledging these issues on social media and promising improvements, criticism from players in Japan and around the world has remained intense.

The situation escalated to the point where Capcom felt the need to issue a public statement on July 4 about its Anti-Customer Harassment Policy. The company revealed that its employees have been receiving harassment through customer support and social media channels. Most concerning, some staff members have received direct threats.
In a statement, Capcom emphasized that while it values player feedback, the harassment has crossed a line. The company warned it will take legal action in serious cases where employees are threatened or harassed.
