Infinity Strash: DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai is a faithful adaptation of the anime and manga that fans are sure to enjoy.

Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is an action RPG based on the anime and manga series, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. However, the game does not cover the entirety of the story, but there’s a chance of additional content being added based on how well the game performs.

I was given the opportunity to test out the game ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2023.

Gameplay consists of fighting hordes of enemies or bosses, and enjoying the story of Dragon Quest through engaging and interesting cutscenes as you progress through the stages. These cutscenes typically consist of still images pulled from the anime with narration. For more important scenes, there will be fully fledged 3D animated cutscenes.

The combat mechanics are quite basic, as players would only have access to 2 regular attacks, 2 regular skills, a magic attack, an ultimate attack, and special actions like power ups. The controls are quite simple and easy to understand, but don’t allow for complicated actions such as move cancels and combos.

Personally, I would’ve preferred if the combat system had more to offer, but the it was likely designed with younger fans that enjoy the show in mind.

In terms of character customization, you’re able to change their skills and level up. One unique feature is Bond Memories, which is essentially an enhancement system where you can further increase your stats by equipping cards with artwork taken from the anime.

From cutscenes including snippets from the anime to bond memories having artwork from the manga, this game was clearly made for Dragon Quest fans. Admittedly, the game might be a little basic, but this appeals to gamers both young and old, who are all able to enjoy this game thanks to its simplicity.

The game is currently being showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2023, and is expected to have release date of September 28th, 2023.
