In a landmark move to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The King of Fighters (KOF), SNK Corporation has officially established KOF Studio, a new development team set to carry the legacy of its iconic fighting game franchises into the future. The studio’s formation marks a significant milestone for SNK as it continues to evolve its beloved series, including Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, and Art of Fighting.

KOF Studio is dedicated to continuing the evolution of SNK’s fighting game legacy, with a focus on introducing innovative new experiences while staying true to the essence of its classic titles. According to a message shared on its official website, the studio will not only honor the history of these franchises but also push the boundaries of what fans can expect from future installments. “The dream match never ends,” reads the studio’s statement, emphasizing its commitment to both preserving and expanding the worlds that fans know and love.
KOF Studio’s development portfolio includes The King of Fighters XV, Samurai Shodown (2019), SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, and The King of Fighters XIV. Their upcoming projects include Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, a highly anticipated return to the Fatal Fury series after a two-decade hiatus, as well as an action RPG set in the Samurai Shodown universe.
The studio’s announcement also signals the development of several other exciting titles, including a Samurai Shodown action RPG and a new Art of Fighting game, both revealed during SNK’s EVO 2024 panel. With the establishment of KOF Studio, SNK is poised to continue delivering high-octane fighting experiences while laying the groundwork for a new era in the fighting game genre.
