The smartphone title represents the series’ first foray into casual mobile gaming, following the 2022 console and PC release Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness. While specific details about gameplay features remain undisclosed, the mobile game is expected to capture the series’ unique blend of wonder and peril. Currently, no information has been provided regarding an international release outside of Japan.
Made in Abyss began as a fantasy manga created by Akihito Tsukushi in 2012, published irregularly on WEB Comic Gamma. The story follows protagonists Riko and Reg as they venture into the mysterious “Abyss” – an enormous vertical chasm considered humanity’s final unexplored frontier – in search of Riko’s mother.

The property gained widespread popularity following its anime adaptation in 2017. Its second season, Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, aired in 2022, with another sequel currently in development. The franchise is known for its distinctive contrast between charming art direction and intense, emotional storytelling.
The 2022 console game was developed under Tsukushi’s supervision and featured a fully-realized 3D recreation of the Abyss, complete with primitive organism battles, relic collection, and the curse of the Abyss – elements that may inform the upcoming mobile experience.
