Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi has implied that the entire remake trilogy—not just the first installment—will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
During an appearance in Nintendo’s Creators’ Voice series, Hamaguchi specifically referred to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series coming to Nintendo Switch 2, rather than limiting his comments to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, which was officially announced for the platform during last month’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation.Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi has suggested the entire FF7 Remake trilogy will come to Nintendo Switch 2, not just the first installment. Speaking in Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice series, he specifically mentioned the “Final Fantasy 7 Remake series,” indicating plans beyond the already-announced Intergrade version.
This marks a notable expansion for the remake series, which has previously maintained timed exclusivity on PlayStation platforms. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will be the first time the game appears on a non-PlayStation console, though both Remake and its sequel Rebirth eventually made their way to PC following their PlayStation exclusivity periods.
Square Enix’s shifting multiplatform approach aligns with recent comments from Rebirth’s director, who expressed interest in bringing the trilogy to additional platforms, including Xbox. However, the terms of any exclusivity agreement between Square Enix and Sony regarding the trilogy’s concluding chapter remain unknown.

Industry insiders have suggested a potential release timeline, claiming that the remake could arrive on Switch 2 in 2025, with Rebirth following in 2026. If Hamaguchi’s comments are indicative of Square Enix’s plans, Switch 2 owners may eventually experience the complete Remake trilogy on Nintendo’s hardware.
The announcement of Intergrade coming to Switch 2 has already generated significant excitement among Nintendo fans eager to experience this modern reimagining of the iconic 1997 RPG classic on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
