Bandai Namco and developer Brownies have unveiled their latest project during Summer Game Fest 2025 – a roguelite action game called Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree. The game is set to release on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The game takes place in a mystical world where players control Towa, a priestess from Shinju Village, along with eight guardian companions. Their mission is to restore peace to lands threatened by an evil force called Magatsu. The story unfolds across different timelines as players work to save their village and the surrounding areas.

One of the game’s main features is its duo combat system. Players can fight alongside a fellow guardian, using both sacred swords called Tsurugi and staffs known as Kagura. Each guardian brings their own unique abilities and weapon sets, creating different combat styles and team combinations for players to discover.
In addition, the game combines roguelite elements with village-building mechanics. As guardians complete quests across various timelines, Shinju Village grows and changes over the years. Furthermore, players can build relationships with village residents, learn about their stories and customs, and use village facilities like a training dojo, a smithing shop for crafting new swords, and areas to summon powerful abilities called Graces.

Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree promises to blend action-packed combat with deep character relationships and village management, offering players multiple ways to approach their adventure in this mystical world.
