The recent Arknights Chocolate collab has picked up a storm within the Chinese community for not being within fan standards; to put it nicely.
From a post on the r/gachagame subreddit, user fortis_99 had compiled various reviews from Chinese users across Taobao and other e-commerce websites, regarding their purchase of the collab chocolate. Needless to say, those reviews are not flattering.
The original poster had also summarised a few of the accusations that were made from the collab chocolate; one customer finding a plastic shard inside the chocolate bar, while one user found dead cockroaches in their shipment. There were also various complaints bringing up that the chocolates did not taste good. Although, I believe it’s more due to personal preferences, considering it’s Salted Egg flavoured chocolate.
The biggest concern however is that the manufacturers of the chocolate bars had their food safety cert revoked since 2019. It’s been reported that the manufacturer only has 5 workers in the whole company, and had previous lawsuits filed against them.
As time of writing this article, it seems that the official Taobao store has already taken down all of the Arknights collab chocolate prodcuts.
