AFA (Animal Festival Asia) Indonesia 2025 proved to be a massive success, drawing huge crowds of anime, cosplay, and gaming enthusiasts throughout the weekend. The popularity was clear from day one, with long lines forming on Friday and even bigger crowds over the weekend.
An Experience from the Start
We received a complete guide upon arrival, featuring a venue map, exhibitor list, main stage schedule, and cosplayer locations. The exhibition area showcased popular anime series including Dan da Dan, Demon Slayer, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, with Muse Asia’s interactive zone being particularly busy.

The gaming section offered plenty to explore, with Bandai Namco’s booth standing out as a major attraction. Attendees could try demos of upcoming games like Little Nightmares 3, Shadow Labyrinth, and Tamagotchi Plaza. While Digimon Story: Time Stranger wasn’t playable, fans could still enjoy a photo opportunity area dedicated to the franchise.

One unique experience was the Meizu x Shadow Corridor Horror House – a free Japanese horror maze included with AFA ID 25 tickets. The immersive experience featured pitch black hallways, creepy sound effects, and scary actors who would jump out unexpectedly. Visitors received flashlights to navigate their way through the maze, and the entire experience was designed without dialogue, making it accessible to anyone regardless of their language background. The spine-chilling attraction proved to be one of the event’s most memorable features.
Three Main Entertainment Areas
AFA ID 25 was organized into three key zones:
Akiba Town served as the main exhibition area, bringing together both major Japanese brands and independent creators in one bustling space. The zone captured the energy of Tokyo’s famous Akihabara district.
Day Stage hosted live talk shows and exclusive anime screenings throughout the event. Popular artists, singers, and voice actors made appearances here, including Sally Amaki, who took time to chat directly with fans on stage. The interactive nature of these sessions created memorable moments for attendees.
Anisong Concerts were undoubtedly the event’s biggest draw, featuring top Japanese J-pop and anisong performers. The live performances brought incredible energy as artists like Eir Aoi, Liyuu, Daoko, DEMONDICE, and towana from fhána took the stage. These crowd-hyped moments were exactly what fans had been waiting all year to experience, with the atmosphere reaching peak excitement during each performance.

International cosplayers brought star power to the event, with big names like Baobao, Thames Malerose, Weian Vann, and YingTze all making appearances. These cosplay personalities didn’t just perform on stage – they also set up booths where fans could interact with them and participate in various activities. The dedicated Meet & Greet sessions were particularly popular, giving attendees the chance to get autographs from their favorite cosplay stars and have personal interactions with the performers they admired.
The MIKU EXPO booth drew massive crowds with its photo zones and exclusive Hatsune Miku merchandise. Fans of illustrator LAM also had a dedicated booth showcasing the artist’s work. The merchandise area overall was one of the busiest sections, offering collectibles for fans of both classic anime and new game franchises.
AFA ID 25 successfully created an exciting atmosphere that celebrated otaku culture in all its forms. The event offered something for everyone, whether visitors came for exclusive merchandise, game demos, live concerts, or just to explore. The combination of well-organized activities, immersive booth experiences, and quality stage performances made for a memorable weekend that lived up to fan expectations.
