Square Enix and Artdink have rolled out a new update for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake – version 1.1.0.0 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch, and version 1.2.0.0 for PC.
This patch brings several gameplay improvements, including enhanced traversal, a new shortcut system for spells and abilities, and a range of battle and vocation adjustments.
Update highlights include:
Traversal Improvements
- Increased movement speed when traveling by boat or riding Ramia.
- Boat speed no longer resets when accessing menus or entering battles.
- New option to toggle between automatic and manual flight while using Ramia.

Vocation Adjustments
- Increased critical hit rates for the Hero and Martial Artist.
- Boosted power for the Hero’s Falcon Slash and Gigaslash, and the Warrior’s Cutting Edge.
- Priests can now equip the Duplic Hat.
- Monster Wrangler’s Monster Pile-On now deals reduced power until all friendly monsters are found, with 3–5 random attacks.
- Wild Side ability now costs 30 MP.

Battle Enhancements
- Limits added to how often certain monster actions can be performed per turn.
- Monsters no longer use Defending Champion immediately after becoming the last one standing.
- Increased status ailment resistance for boss monsters in Draconian Quest difficulty.
- Reduced frequency of repeated status ailments affecting the same characters or enemies.
- Metal Chimaera and Hardy Hand now give more EXP.
- Lowered defense for all non-metal monsters.
- Minor tweaks to damage calculation for improved balance.

Additional Updates
- Mini Medal Manor becomes a Zoom destination after visiting.
- New spell/ability shortcut button lets players assign skills to specific controls (see Traveller’s Tips in-game for details).
- Temple of Trials now requires 10 Elfin Elixirs to pass the guard.
- A new treasure chest has been added to the Temple, providing another Gringham Whip.
- Fixed a bug where using Seeds of Life or Magic before leveling up would incorrectly double stat increases.
- Some missing trophies/achievements can now be reacquired via the Misc. > Info menu.
- Various minor bug fixes and polish.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
