SEGA has announced that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will hit multiple platforms on September 25, including a newly revealed Nintendo Switch 2 version. The racing game was showcased during Summer Game Fest 2025, revealing exciting crossover characters and new gameplay features. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, the original Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store.

One of the biggest reveals was the addition of popular characters from other franchises. Players can now race as Hatsune Miku, the famous virtual singer, alongside Ichiban Kasuga from the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series and Joker from Persona 5. The game will also feature crossover content with Minecraft, bringing blocky worlds into the racing action.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds introduces the Travel Rings feature, a new mechanic that changes races in real time by transporting players to different CrossWorlds during the race. This adds a fresh twist to the traditional racing formula that Sonic fans know and love.
The game brings back the classic mix of land, air, and sea racing that made previous Sonic racing games popular. Players will race across varied terrain types, keeping the action dynamic and engaging.
SEGA promises this will be the largest character roster in any Sonic racing game to date. Beyond the crossover characters, players can expect to see familiar faces from the Sonic universe and other SEGA franchises. The game also offers deep customization options, letting players mix and match vehicle parts, powers, and abilities. This means racers can create a personalized racing setup that fits their preferred play style.
With its September 25 release date approaching and the surprise Switch 2 announcement, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is shaping up to be a major release for racing game fans across multiple platforms.
