Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have been spotted at US retail locations for the first time, with images surfacing from a Target employee showing the highly anticipated gaming system ahead of its official June 5 launch date.
The images, originally posted on Reddit before being deleted but archived by social media users, show approximately 40 Nintendo Switch 2 console boxes secured in a locked retail cage at a Target store. A second photograph confirms the contents by displaying the actual Switch 2 consoles removed from their shipping containers.

This particular Target got 40 units (20 Mario Kart Bundles and 20 Regular).

The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to launch on June 5, with a robust lineup of both first-party and third-party titles. Nintendo’s own launch games include Mario Kart World, Switch 2 Welcome Tour, and enhanced Switch 2 Editions of current-generation titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Third-party publishers are supporting the launch with several major releases, including Split Fiction, Cyberpunk 2077, Civilization VII, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, and Sonic X Shadows Generations.
Target stores are receiving their Switch 2 stock and apparently as long as it’s locked in a cage they don’t mind leaving it in the middle of the floor!

Looking beyond launch, Donkey Kong: Bananza is slated for July release, with Drag X Drive also expected during the summer months. Nintendo has confirmed that Switch 2 versions of Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will arrive later this year, though specific release dates have not been announced.
Nintendo has also announced free Switch 2 updates for 12 existing Switch titles that will be available at launch. Games including Super Mario Odyssey, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will receive various enhancements. Some titles will see improved resolution and frame rates, while others will gain access to GameShare support—a new feature allowing players with multiple Switch consoles to play multiplayer games using a single copy.
