NetEase Games Announces Sea of Remnants, Coming to PS5, PC and Mobile in 2026

During the State of Play, NetEase Games unveiled Sea of Remnants, a free-to-play, ocean-themed RPG developed by Joker Studio.

The debut trailer offers a glimpse into the game’s expansive ocean world, featuring sweeping exploration, fast-paced naval combat, and interactions with a distinctive cast of puppet-inspired characters.

In Sea of Remnants, players assume the role of a sailor who awakens with no memory, journeying through a mysterious oceanic realm alongside an enigmatic companion. The adventure spans treacherous open waters, remote islands, and the evolving city of Orbtopia, all within a dynamic open world that reacts to player choices.

Narrative depth is a central focus, with player decisions influencing the relationships between factions, individual characters, and the political landscape of the world. With over 300 NPCs, each tied to their own allegiances and ambitions, players can forge alliances, turn rivals into allies – or remove them entirely – to shape the balance of power.

Strategy on the Seas, Stories at the Shore

Gameplay in Sea of Remnants revolves around two key elements: tactical, island-based turn-based battles and real-time naval combat. Each crewmate brings distinct professions and unlockable skills, encouraging synergy and team-based strategy during turn-based encounters. Meanwhile, ship battles test quick thinking, positioning, and resource management in real time.

Beyond combat, players can spend time in Orbtopia, a lively port city that acts as a hub. Activities such as fishing, mahjong, and cooking hotpot may seem leisurely, but they contribute to crew morale, character progression, and social reputation – adding depth to downtime.
