Zenless Zone Zero’s version 2.0 brings us Yixuan, an exciting new S-tier Agent who’s shaking up the game with her unique abilities. As the sect leader of the Yunkui Summit, she’s the first character to introduce the brand-new Rupture trait, making her a game-changer for players looking to try something different.
Yixuan stands out because she uses a damage system called Sheer Force instead of regular attack damage. This means she can ignore enemy defenses and deal consistent damage no matter how tough your opponents are. She also has a special resource called Auric Ink and not one, but two different ultimate attacks to choose from.

The catch? Yixuan is definitely a high-risk, high-reward character. She can deal massive damage, but you’ll need to be smart about your equipment choices and invest resources carefully to make her work at her best.
How Yixuan’s Skills Work
Adrenaline System Yixuan starts every fight with full Adrenaline, which is her main resource. When you use Adrenaline, it turns into Technique Points. Once you fill up your Technique Points, you can unleash one of her ultimate attacks. You can get Adrenaline back by doing basic attacks after using certain ultimates, perfect blocks, dodging, or when teammates use their ultimates.
Basic and Special Attacks Her basic attack hits multiple times and some hits deal Auric Ink damage. If you hold down the basic attack button, she’ll use Adrenaline to shoot an energy ball that pulls enemies together and can trigger a dodge with a big damage finish. Her special attack makes her jump back first, then dash forward to attack. During the backward part, you can do a Perfect Dodge to get Adrenaline back. If you hold the enhanced special attack, she can charge it up and automatically block attacks, which also gives back Adrenaline.

Ultimate Attacks Yixuan has two ultimates: “Qingming Skyshade” and “Endless Talisman Suppression.” The second one uses up Adrenaline to build Technique Points, and when those are full, you can use it to get Auric Ink value. Her dodge skill “Nimbus Step” is also special – hold it down to enter a high-speed state, then press basic attack to trigger “Auric Ink Formation” which keeps giving you Adrenaline back and lets you do follow-up combos.
Skill Priority When upgrading skills, focus on: Core Skills first, then Chain Attack, Special Attack, Basic Attack, and finally Assist and Dodge equally.
Best Equipment for Yixuan
W-Engine (Weapons) The absolute best choice is Qingming Birdcage. This weapon gives you 20% more critical hit rate and special effects that boost both Sheer damage and Ether damage. It’s so good that you should prioritize getting this weapon over other character upgrades.
If you can’t get that weapon, Radiowave Journey is a solid backup option. It’s easier to get and gives you Sheer Force bonuses when you use Chain Attacks or Ultimates.

Drive Discs (Artifacts) For the best results, use the 4-piece Yunkui Tales set. This is Yixuan’s signature equipment set that increases your critical hit rate and gives a big boost to Sheer damage when you have 3 stacks of the effect.
If you’re mixing 2-piece sets, go for ones that boost critical stats or Ether damage like Chaotic Metal, Branch & Blade Song, or Woodpecker Electro.
Stats to Focus On
- Main stats: Critical Rate/Critical Damage, Ether Damage, HP
- Sub-stats: Critical Rate and Critical Damage are most important, then HP
Character Upgrades (Mindscapes)
Yixuan works great even without any upgrades (M0), but here’s what each upgrade does:
- M1: Makes her much better at the start of fights by instantly filling Adrenaline and adding a lightning strike
- M2: Helps her deal with enemies that resist Ether damage by ignoring their resistance
- M4: Increases her damage multipliers for higher burst damage
- M6: Gives her an extra ultimate every 30 seconds for maximum damage output
For most players, M0 with her signature weapon is enough. M1 and M2 give the best value for your investment.

Team Building
Since Yixuan is the first Rupture character, traditional support characters don’t work as well with her. Luckily, version 2.0 also brought new characters that work perfectly with her.
Best Partner: Pan Yinhu Pan Yinhu is basically made for Yixuan. He gives her Sheer Force bonuses when she uses Enhanced Special Attacks and provides damage bonuses when hitting enemies.
Recommended Teams:
- High-end team: Ju Fufu + Yixuan + Pan Yinhu with Belion Bangboo
- Stun-focused teams: Astra Yao or Trigger + Yixuan + Pan Yinhu with Resonaboo
- Budget team: Yixuan + Lucy + Pan Yinhu with Devilboo

Should You Pull for Yixuan?
Yixuan is definitely a powerful main damage dealer who can handle most content in the game. However, she’s quite specialized and needs specific team members and equipment to reach her full potential. This means you’ll need to invest more resources compared to other characters.
Since version 2.0 gives players plenty of resources, it might be smart to think about your long-term team plans before deciding. If you like her playstyle and don’t mind the extra investment, she’s a solid choice. If you’re on a tight budget, you might want to wait and see how she fits into future team compositions.

Yixuan brings a fresh and exciting playstyle to Zenless Zone Zero, but she’s definitely not a plug-and-play character. She rewards players who are willing to learn her mechanics and invest in the right support characters and equipment.
