The big 2.0 anniversary update for Zenless Zone Zero is here, bringing tons of free rewards and exciting new characters to pull for. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to decide where to spend your precious Polychrome. Here’s a breakdown of what’s worth your pulls and what you can skip.
New Characters Worth Your Pulls
Yixuan – The New Powerhouse Yixuan is the star of this update. She’s an S-rank character with a unique Auric Ink attribute that specializes in breaking through enemy defenses. What makes her special is her ability to deal “Sheer Force” damage – think of it as nearly true damage that ignores most enemy armor.
Her playstyle is more complex than usual, juggling three different resources (Adrenaline, Technique Points, and Auric Ink), but the payoff is worth it. Since her damage scales with both HP and attack, she’s surprisingly tanky while still hitting hard.
If you’re pulling for Yixuan, aim for at least M0 (base character) plus her signature weapon (S1). If you have extra resources, M2 with her weapon makes her ultimate rotation much smoother.

Ju Fufu – The Perfect Support Ju Fufu is a Fire-element Stun character that’s incredibly beginner-friendly. She provides area-of-effect stun damage and buffs your entire team’s critical damage output. Her kit revolves around summoning a companion called “Hu Wei” that unleashes fire attacks.
What’s great about Ju Fufu is her versatility – she works well with Yixuan and other main damage dealers like Evelyn and Hugo. She’s effective right out of the box at M0 without her weapon, making her very budget-friendly. M2 improves her skill rotation, but it’s not required.
Returning Characters – Should You Pull?
Astra Yao – Almost a Must-Have If you don’t have a strong support character yet, Astra Yao should be your top priority. She provides excellent healing and team-wide damage buffs, making her one of the best supports in the game. She works perfectly fine at M0 without her weapon, though M1 or M2 upgrades are nice bonuses if you have extra resources.

Caesar King – Situational Pick Caesar King is a defensive support who provides shields and protection for your team. While she’s solid, she’s more of a luxury pick rather than a necessity. If you already have good support characters or your team doesn’t struggle with survivability, you can safely skip her.
Free S-Rank Characters – Who to Choose
The anniversary gives you a free S-rank character. Here are the best options:
Top Picks:
- Von Lycaon: Great Ice-element breaker, especially against Ice-weak enemies. Try to get him to M1 or M2 if possible.
- Alexandrina Sebastiane: Provides armor piercing and Electric damage buffs. She needs at least M1 to be effective, so prioritize getting one copy.
- Soldier 11: Good Fire attacker if you don’t have Evelyn, but needs M2+ investment to really shine.

Skip These:
- Koleda: Ju Fufu does her job better now.
- Grace: Outdated with too many better alternatives.
- Nekomiya Mana: Not useful in the current meta.
Free S-Rank Weapons – What to Grab
You also get a free S-rank weapon. Here are the priorities:
Must-Have:
- The Brimstone: Works great on almost all attack characters, especially Soldier 11.
- Weeping Cradle: Provides team-wide attack buffs and energy regeneration – useful even if you don’t use Alexandrina Sebastiane.

Skip These:
- The Restrained/Hellfire Gears: Similar to free event weapons you probably already have.
- Fusion Compiler: Comparable to other free options.
- Steel Cushion: Hard to use effectively due to positioning requirements.
Pull Priority Recommendations
If you’re new or need core characters:
- Astra Yao (if you need support)
- Yixuan + Ju Fufu combo
- Free character: Von Lycaon or Alexandrina Sebastiane
If you have a solid team already:
- Yixuan (for a new team comp)
- Ju Fufu (versatile support)
- Skip Caesar King unless you love her design
Budget players: Focus on Ju Fufu first – she’s effective at M0 and doesn’t need her weapon. Then work toward Astra Yao if you need support.
The Zenless Zone Zero 2.0 update offers great value for both new and veteran players. Take advantage of the free rewards and choose pulls that complement your existing roster. Remember, it’s better to have a few well-built characters than many underdeveloped ones!
