Elden Ring Nightreign has reached an impressive milestone, selling 2 million copies within its first 24 hours of release, according to publisher Bandai Namco. The company celebrated the achievement on the official Elden Ring social media account, posting an image that thanked “2 million Nightfarers on the first day.” The accompanying message read: “Darkness fell over Limveld, and two million Nightfarers rose up against it. Thank you for your support.”
The strong sales numbers reflect the game’s immediate popularity on Steam, where it peaked at 313,593 concurrent players just one hour after launch. This makes Nightreign the second-highest concurrent player count for any FromSoftware game on Steam, trailing only behind the original Elden Ring.

However, the launch hasn’t been without challenges. The game currently holds mixed user reviews on Steam, with players pointing out several concerns. Many have criticized the absence of a two-player mode, noting that the game jumps from solo play directly to three-player co-op without an in-between option. Others feel the game lacks the depth found in previous FromSoftware titles, while some players with high-end graphics cards have reported performance issues.
One of the biggest complaints centers around the difficulty of playing Nightreign alone. While the game is built around three-player co-op gameplay, it does allow single-player runs. However, most players agree that tackling the game solo is significantly more challenging than the intended cooperative experience.
Bandai Namco has listened to these concerns and announced that patch 1.02 will arrive next week to address solo play difficulties. The update will include various bug fixes and specific improvements for players who prefer to go it alone.
The following improvements for solo expeditions will be added to the game:
– The effect “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat”, which allows revival once per night boss battle, will be added to solo expeditions.
– The amount of runes gained will be increased.

Two key changes have been confirmed for solo players. The patch will add an “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat” feature, giving solo players one revival chance during each night boss battle. Additionally, the amount of runes earned in solo mode will be increased, helping solo players progress more efficiently.
More details about the upcoming patch are expected to be shared next week. With the weekend approaching, Nightreign’s concurrent player count on Steam may climb even higher, potentially setting new records for the franchise.
