One of the new Doctor Who games announced by Maze Theory includes a mobile game to be developed by Malaysian developer Kaigan Games. Kaigan had previously developed SIMULACRA, as well as Sara Is Missing.
The Doctor Who mobile game is supposed to be a “horror sci-fi mobile phone takeover game”, which sounds quite fitting for Kaigan. It is part of a trilogy of games for the TV series, the first game being the Doctor Who: The Edge of Time VR game that launched in November 2019. Besides the mobile game, there will also be one for Playstation, Xbox and PC to complete the trilogy. These games are set for an early 2021 release.
Fans can expect new adventures, new game mechanics, intriguing subplots and iconic features such as the TARDIS, terrifying Weeping Angels, imposing Daleks and – of course – the chance to collude with the Doctor herself.
For the unfamiliar, Doctor Who is a UK television series that follows the titular Doctor typically on a variety of time-travelling shenanigans with a companion (or multiple) on board the TARDIS, a time machine. The Doctor has undergone many “regenerations”, allowing for a new actor and character traits to play into following seasons of the show. The Doctor is currently in their thirteenth incarnation, with Jodie Whitaker as the Doctor, the first female one of the main series.
