Digimon Adventure 02 Movie Reveals New Name, Character Designs and Trailer Clip

The latest Digimon Adventure movie bringing Davis and friends back into the limelight now has an official name: Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.

The comes alongside new information from DigiFest 2022 via Anime News Network about the game including the new designs for the central cast.

The anime brings back the Adventure 02 cast: Davis (Daisuke), Ken, Yolei (Miyako), Cody (Iori), TK (Takeru), and Kari (Hikari). The film is set shortly after the events of Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna with the cast being around 20 years old.

The plot starts with Davis serving everyone ramen when a portal opens up in the sky. The gang spot someone attempting to climb Tokyo Tower to reach the portal and promptly decide to rescue them.

That person is the recently revealed new character Rui Owada (VA Megumi Ogata) who has been unveiled alongside a new Digimon Ukkomon (Rie Kugimiya). Rui claims to be the first ever person to partner with a Digimon. He has a Digivice but doesn’t seem to actually have a Digimon with him.

The film is being animated by Yumeta Company, directed by Tomohisa Taguchi and the script is being written by Akatsuki Yamatoya all of whom return from Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.

A clip of the movie has also been shown at the recent DigiFest 2022 event. We can’t link to it since it hasn’t been uploaded to any official Digimon social media however the video can be found on Youtube if you search for it.

The new Digimon 02 movie will be screened in Japan sometime in 2023 but an exact release date has not been confirmed.
