2K Games is currently offering Borderlands 2 for free for fans to claim on Steam. PC players can claim the game by visiting its Steam page anytime before June 8.
Originally released in 2021, Borderlands 2 is widely regarded as the standout title in the Borderlands franchise. In May 2025, 2K announced that the game had surpassed 30 million copies sold, making it the company’s best-selling title to date.

In Borderlands 2, players choose from four unique Vault Hunters as they battle through a vast world filled with deadly creatures, deranged enemies, and the infamous antagonist, Handsome Jack. The game also supports cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.
One of the game’s key features is its seamless drop-in/drop-out co-op system, allowing players to join or leave a session without interrupting the campaign. Additionally, players can carry gear across different games, adding to the experience’s flexibility.

Upon release, Borderlands 2 included impressive PhysX effects powered by NVIDIA’s hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, these effects are not supported on the latest RTX-50 series GPUs. However, they remain functional for players using older NVIDIA graphics cards.
If you haven’t claimed it yet, this offer is available until June 8 and once you claim your copy, it’s yours to keep permanently.
