Social media was abuzz watching footage of blind Street Fighter 6 player, BlindWarriorSven, winning a stream match at Pools at EVO.

Sven beat his opponent player EternalPancake 2-1 to advance to the next round of pools, using E.Honda to beat out Pancake’s Luke.

It should not be understated just how good Sven plays- he was a big name on the scene even during the era of Street Fighter V, and this year’s match had him doing everything from whiff punishes to Drive Rush setups and corner carries.

Unfortunately, he was eliminated at Round 4 from the loser’s side in a match against Cysteen. .

Sven himself was grateful to have his match featured, tweeting out his enjoyment of the match.

“Playing a [Street Fighter 6] match on the [EVO 2023] stage was one of the greatest moments I had as #BlindWarriorSven! I would like to give a big shoutout to my opponent “EternalPancake”! Playing matches under this kind of circumstances can be very difficult. GGS bro!”, he writes.

He’d previously also been very vocal about accessibility features in Street Fighter, urging more developers to consider letting more people play their games.

“I would like to have more companies being aware of having their games be accessible at some point. Even if their game is 60 or 70% accessible, you can still play it at some level”, he said in a documentary by theScore esports.

Clips of Sven’s streamed match are widely circulated in social media, with many praising Capcom’s audio-based cues in Street Fighter 6 as an accessibility win

“It’s cool as hell that this feature exists and even cooler to see it in action”, writes one Twitter user, MinovskyArticle.

“That’s the great thing about the audio, especially in this game, I think it really helps out situationally with figuring out where you are and stuff”, said commentator Stephen “Sajam” Lyon during the match.

“It really helps so much and more games have to think about this stuff because there are plenty of people out there who want to play fighting games like Sven who are like ‘dude I just need you to help me a little bit. I don’t need you to help me a lot because I’m about to go up on EVO and start whooping people but that’s all I need’ “, he adds.
