Starfield Release Date Announced

Microsoft and Bethesda have announced the release date for Starfield, their next big open world RPG.

Starfield has a release date of 11th November 2022, releasing exclusively on the Xbox Seried X|S, as well as Windows 10.

We also got a little more information about the game, along with a peak at the visual flavor. Rather than being cutting-edge sci-fi, it looks like the game will be adopting a slightly more retro space look, with astronauts using space suits not that different from the Apollo missions.

That’s not to say the game takes place during the Kennedy era, though. At least one giant robot was shown in both the trailer and the key art for the game,

Your character will be a part of Constellation, assumedly a group given the mission of exploring space. Not much else was shown in the teaser, other than the previously-feared exclusivity of the new RPG ever since Bethesda was acquired by Xbox.

It also looks like combat will be primarily ranged based, as the character in the trailer is shown to be putting away a gun early on in the trailer.

Interestingly enough Starfield launches 11 years after the initial release of Skyrim, which released on the 11th of November 2011. It’s also the first wholly new IP by Bethesda, being entirely separate from the publisher’s other two tentpole IPs, Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.
