Square Enix has shared fresh information and screenshots for the upcoming Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, giving fans a deeper look at what to expect when the game launches on Nintendo Switch 2 this June.
The remastered version of the beloved RPG brings the classic tale of crystals and warriors of light to Nintendo’s new console with high-definition visuals and updated features. The game follows Tiz, the sole survivor of a village destroyed by a massive chasm, as he teams up with a young vestal named Agnès to close the chasm and free crystals consumed by darkness.

Players will explore various locations including Ancheim, a desert city of machinery and windmills now struggling without wind power after its Wind Crystal was lost to darkness. There’s also Florem, a flower-filled city where men are traditionally banned, and Grandship, a neutral floating nation that serves as a key supply port.
The remaster introduces two brand-new minigames that take advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2’s mouse controls. “Luxencheer Rhythm Catch” lets players dance along to the game’s soundtrack using lux sticks, while “Ringabel’s Panic Cruise” puts players in control of an airship cockpit, juggling multiple tasks while following flight courses. Both minigames offer rewards like accessories and costumes for achieving high scores.

The game keeps its signature job system with 14 different classes, from basic roles like Thief and Merchant to more specialized ones like Time Mage and Swordmaster. Each job offers unique abilities – thieves excel at stealing items, merchants use money as a weapon, and time mages can even restart battles if the party gets wiped out. Combat features the series’ trademark Brave & Default system, along with special moves that boost the entire party while playing. Players can also team up with friends through summoning and ability-sharing systems, making tough battles more manageable.

The town reconstruction feature returns, letting players rebuild Tiz’s destroyed hometown of Norende. As the village grows, new shops and equipment become available to help on the adventure. Square Enix will host a pre-launch livestream on June 2 at 8 PM Japan time, featuring live gameplay and commentary from series producer Tomoya Asano and other key staff members. The stream will be available on YouTube for fans worldwide.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, bringing the story that helped inspire Octopath Traveler to a new generation of players with modern conveniences and enhanced visuals.
