Helldivers 2 Players Dousing Planets In Poison Gas As Flying Bugs Enter the Game Quietly

As flying bugs stealthily enter Helldivers 2, players are now democratically dousing multiple planets in poison gas as part of a major order.

Just 12 hours ago, Helldivers 2 developers released breaking news, reporting that the Helldivers is now preparing to activate the Terminid Control System (TCS) and quarantine the bugs fully.

In the news report, it is stated that the Termicide is proving to be extremely effective, with ‘experts’ saying that the benefits to the local ecology far outweigh the loss of native species.

But how did we get here? Why the sudden need to liberally douse poison gas all over the planets when bug fighting has always been a thing? Let’s take a look back to a few days ago…

It all started when a major order came in for the Helldivers, urging them to activate the TCS that was built on barrier planets, as the Terminid swarm had taken over the planets and forced evacuation.

The order states the plan of the operation, Helldivers come in and activate the TCS, TCS inoculates the planet with Termicide, and bugs get quarantined forever, seems like a straightforward operation. But just one day after the operation started, strange creatures were seen in the environment.

Soon after the operation, players started to report the existence of flying bugs in the game, with the above video footage showing the new creature known as a ‘Shrieker’.

Players were confused, as these creatures came out of nowhere. No trace of the ‘Shrieker’ can be found even in the recent patch notes.

However, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios Johan Pilestedt quickly came out to reassure our fellow Helldivers, claiming that this is just propaganda from bug sympathizers because everyone knows “Bugs can’t fly”.

Even when presented with proof from the mighty cover box, Johan Pilestedt also shut down those claims by claiming that it was image manipulation by traitors.

And now on 14th March, 2024. We return to the present and see that the Helldivers preparing to douse the planets with the trusty Termicide, quarantining the bugs once and for all, with surely no side effects.

Now with Super Earth-splaining out of the way, the flying bugs do indeed exist in Helldivers 2, many players have reportedly fought against the ‘Shrieker’ during missions.

While their origins remain unknown, many players speculate that the TCS and the introduction of the flying bugs are related, as the bugs could have mutated into something way worse instead of being quarantined as planned.

If this was the plan by the Helldivers developers, it would be an amazing way of introducing new enemies into the game, as it ties into real-time events going on in the Helldivers universe. But as Pilestedt continues to deny their existence, only time will tell how these flying bugs came to be.
