A Strategic Twist on the Resident Evil Formula
Unlike recent entries like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil: Survival Unit will not follow the traditional single-player horror experience. Instead, it will take the form of a real-time strategy (RTS) game designed for iOS and Android platforms. While exact gameplay details remain under wraps, the title promises a reimagined take on the survival-horror elements that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
The game is being developed under a three-way partnership between Capcom, JoyCity, and Aniplex, with Shinji Hashimoto, Senior VP of Aniplex ForwardWorks Room, presenting the announcement at the expo.
Fans won’t have to wait long for more information. Capcom has scheduled a full reveal of Resident Evil: Survival Unit for July 10, 2025, at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET, where we expect to see the first official gameplay footage and more details on its mechanics, features, and potential release window.
What’s Next for Resident Evil?

While fans explore this new mobile spinoff, the core franchise continues to expand. Capcom has already confirmed the next major installment, Resident Evil Requiem, which is scheduled to launch in February 2026. This game will introduce a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and take players back to a post-explosion Raccoon City devastated by efforts to stop the spread of the T-virus.
