Wizards of the Coast will be launching “Modern Horizons III“, the latest set for Magic: the Gathering (MTG) that brings powerful reprints from Magic’s history to the Modern format.
Modern Horizons III is set to be released for tabletop on 14 June 2024, with WPN exclusive pre-release experiences to be held from June 7th to June 13th, 2024.
Bringing powerful new cards and reprints from Magic’s history to the Modern format, Modern Horizons III brims with collectibility and nostalgia for players to sink their teeth into.
The Return of Eldrazi
In Modern Horizons III, players can follow a story retelling of incomprehensible horrors, following the malevolent interdimensional Eldrazi titans and their plane-devouring pursuits. This new set is packed with reimagined versions of the god-like Eldrazi in their physical forms and comes in foil-etched or even serialized borderless concept treatments exclusive to Collector Boosters.
Planeswalker’s Spark
This set will also see the return of iconic Planeswalkers, from heroic to villainous, from Ajani Goldmane and Ral Zarek to Grist and Sorin Markov. The Planeswalkers will be showcased in brand-new double-face cards (DFC).
Furthermore, this new set is designed for both drafting and updating the competitive Modern format, with the aim of creating strong new decks and revitalizing old favorite cards. This means the long-awaited return of allied fetch lands – nonbasic lands that grant players ways to fully customize and optimize their mana base. These will be available in 4 different treatments – regular frame, extended-art frame, retro frame, and borderless frame.
Energy will be returning as a mechanic, allowing players to use energy counters to pay the cost of activated or triggered abilities. Modern Horizons III will also see the skill-focused gameplay of the bonus sheet, which reprints a range of classic cards for the Modern format for the first time.
Expand your collection with style because Modern Horizons III is bringing in retro frame treatment that pays homage to card designs from Magic’s history. At the same time, the borderless profile treatment will also make a return, alongside the frame break treatment.
As mentioned, the Modern Horizons III set for Magic the Gathering is set to launch for tabletop on 14 June 2024
